This page covers everything Arjade Productions runs: the main website (www.arjade.net), the free game tools (www.arjade.net/tools), the mailing list, and the Chronicle and shop (tome.arjade.net). It explains what is collected, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: we collect only what each part needs, we keep it on our own hosting, and we never sell or share it for marketing.
Who we are
Arjade Productions is the creative studio of Raymond J. Hicks, a sole trader based in Australia (ABN 61 369 161 638). If you have a question about your information, use the contact form.
The mailing list
When you sign up for the free novella, on either the main website or the Chronicle, we store:
- your email address
- the dates you signed up, confirmed and were last emailed
- whether you are waiting to confirm, confirmed, or have left the list
- a random code used in your personal confirm, download and leave links
We use your address to send you the confirmation email, the novella, and occasional stories, Dice Ranger notes and updates. You are only added to the list after you confirm your address by pressing the button in that first email.
Every email we send includes a link to leave the list. Leaving takes effect straight away. We keep a note that your address has left, so it is never emailed again by mistake. If you would like it removed completely, contact us and we will delete it.
The contact form
Messages sent through the contact form are emailed to us with your name (if you give one), your email address and your message. They are not stored on the website and do not add you to the mailing list. We use your address only to reply to you.
The game tools
The free game tools at arjade.net/tools run entirely in your web browser. They don't send anything you type to us, and they have no accounts or sign-ups.
To save you starting again, some tools keep your work in your own browser's storage on your device. For example, the 5150 Character Generator keeps the character you're working on (including any portrait picture you add), your colour choice and your layout. We can't see any of this, and it never leaves your device. It stays until you clear your browser's data for this site.
When you use "Save file" or export a picture, the file is made by your browser and saved straight to your own computer.
When you buy from the shop
To process and deliver an order, the shop collects:
- your name and email address
- your billing address and, if you choose to give it, your phone number
- what you bought, when, and for how much
- your internet address and browser type, recorded with the order to help prevent fraud
For physical items, your delivery address is also collected and shared with the postal service so your parcel can reach you.
We use this to deliver your downloads, send your order confirmation and download links, post physical items, handle refunds, answer your questions, and keep the business records Australian law requires. How refunds work is explained in the refund policy.
Payments
Payments are handled by PayPal. When you pay, your payment details go directly to PayPal; we never see or store your card number. PayPal receives your name, email, address and order total to process the payment, and PayPal's own privacy policy applies to what it does with them.
Shop accounts
You can buy without an account. If you choose to create one, it stores your name, email, addresses and order history so you can download your purchases again later. You can ask for your account to be deleted at any time.
Comments on the Chronicle
If you comment on a Chronicle post, your name, email, comment and internet address are stored so the comment can be shown and moderated. Your email is never shown publicly, and every comment is checked by hand before it appears.
Spam protection
To stop people flooding the forms on the main website, it counts how many times each internet connection uses them in an hour. Connection addresses are scrambled before they are stored, so the real address is never kept, and the counts are cleared after an hour.
Cookies and tracking
The main website sets no cookies at all. The Chronicle and shop set only the cookies they need to work:
- shop cookies that remember what is in your cart while you browse
- login cookies, if you have a shop account and sign in
- comment cookies, only if you tick "save my name" when leaving a comment
The game tools use your browser's own storage instead of cookies (see The game tools above).
None of the sites use advertising or tracking cookies, or visitor statistics services. Fonts and pictures are all served from our own hosting.
Like every web host, our hosting provider keeps routine server records (such as connection addresses and the pages requested) to keep the service running and secure.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept for five years, the period Australian tax law requires businesses to keep records. Mailing list details are kept until you leave the list (or until you ask for them to be deleted). Shop accounts are kept until you ask for them to be deleted. Comments stay for as long as the post is published, unless you ask for yours to be removed.
Where your information is kept
Your details are kept on our own website hosting. The mailing list is kept in a folder that cannot be reached from the web. We do not use outside mailing list companies, and we never sell, rent or share your details with anyone for marketing. The only other parties who receive any of it are PayPal (to take a payment) and, for physical orders, the postal service (to deliver).
Other websites
Our pages link to other places, including Two Hour Wargames, DriveThruRPG, Amazon, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Redbubble and Google Drive. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which apply once you visit them.
Your choices
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted, at any time. The one exception is order records we are required by law to keep; those are kept for the required time and then deleted. Use the contact form and we will sort it out.
Changes to this page
If what any of the sites collect ever changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top changed to match.
