1. Quick start
- Choose your trader: your Star from the Character Generator, or a quick one. Every roll is 2d6 against People.
- Set your ship's Hull and where you're buying, then Roll for me for How Much Cargo, and again for the price.
- Pick where you're selling and press Fly there and sell, then roll the selling price.
2. Finding and buying Cargo
Find a Trade Broker with a Chillin' Encounter and one PEF; a Criminal broker's Cargo is Contraband. How Much Cargo: pass 2 and you get Cargo equal to your Hull; pass 1, half your Hull; pass 0, nothing. The price per Cargo depends on the planet's POP and how many dice you pass; doubles mean the market moves (−1 or +1). You pay the price × Cargo in Decreasing Rep d6.
3. Selling
Fly anywhere: one Contact in Space for each Ring and Sector you travel. The selling price is rolled the same way, then adjusted:
- by the two worlds' Economies (Price Adjustment), from where you bought it to where you sell it;
- −1 if it's sold in the system it came from; +1 if it's come 3 or more jumps;
- bought on a non-faction world: 1d6 for −1, 0 or +1;
- Contraband smuggled to a Law 5 world +2, Law 2–4 +1.
You earn the price × Cargo in Increasing Rep d6. The screen shows your profit, and every run goes into the play log: Save log (.txt).
For now: half your Hull is rounded down (at least 1), and a Cargo is never worth less than 1.
4. Planets from Star Charts
Every inhabited planet you've charted in Star Charts appears in the lists, with its POP, Economy and Law, and the jumps between two charted systems are counted for you. Or choose Type it in. New Hope (3/4/2/2/2/T/2) is ready as the starting point.
