5150 is a game by Ed Teixeira, published by Two Hour Wargames. Please support Two Hour Wargames by buying their products. This tool is from the supplement 5150: Shipyard (by John Cunningham and Ed Teixeira), p.2–7. You'll need the book to play.

1. Before you start

Open your Star in the Character Generator (in the same browser). In Shipyard, ships are paid for in Lifetime Rep d6, not Decreasing Rep d6: what you pay goes in the Character Generator's Lifetime Rep d6 spent on ships box (Campaign log tab) and comes off your Lifetime Rep d6. Without a Star the broker still shows prices, but nothing is paid or saved.

2. Buying, leasing, stolen and used ships

Every deal starts with finding a seller: a successful Chillin' Encounter (for a stolen ship, the Criminal Element). No seller, no ship this month. Then choose a ship from Shipyard's list:

The ship goes onto the Ship Sheet in Shipyard mode (its modules, Risk and Cargo Slots included) and into your Star's Vehicles. A ship already on the Ship Sheet stays in your Star's Vehicles, so nothing is lost.

3. Selling or trading in

Your ship is worth half of Hull × 10, +1 per module, −1 per Risk Conversion and −1 per point of damage (repair it first to get more). Find a buyer with a Chillin' Encounter: success, the full value; partial, −2; failure, no buyer this month. Giving up a ship also costs Lifetime Rep −1. A leased ship isn't yours to sell. Stolen ships and illegal kit may need a Streetwise or Criminal Contact Encounter.

4. Salvage and captured ships

Salvage: choose what the wreck was and roll its Derelict Condition (Stripped, Crippled, Ruptured or Burned-Out). It's worth (Thrust + Firepower + modules left) × 2, sold through a Chillin' Encounter, and counts as Increasing Rep d6 for the month, +1 for salvage.

Captured: after winning a boarding, you need a Prize Crew of 2 or more to take the ship. Make it your ship (it goes on the Ship Sheet) or sell it. Capturing a ship is +2 Increasing Rep d6. Until it reaches a safe port it travels under escort and can't start fights.

5. Where else it is

The same broker is in the Gear Shop, on the Ship Sheet, in the Guided Character Creator and in the Guided Campaign's "Other rules", always with the same rules.

6. Where the book isn't clear

These "for now" choices are listed for Ed Teixeira: a used ship has ½d6 Risk Conversions, each rolled on the Risk table; selling pays the value back into your Lifetime Rep d6 (then −1 for giving up a ship); sold salvage is Increasing Rep d6 for the month.
